Is the market shaping our healthโ€ฆ more than we realize? ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ’ฐ The recent declaration by the MAP (Maltese Association of Psychiatry) opposes any involvement of organisations linked to cannabis use in sponsoring nurseries or initiatives for socially disadvantaged children. While investment in childrenโ€™s wellbeing, inclusion, and development is strongly supported, such efforts should remain independent of substances shown to harm young people. Evidence links cannabis exposure in children and adolescents to neurodevelopmental, cognitive, and mental health risks, and associating youth-focused activities with it risks normalising harm. Childrenโ€™s sport and recreational spaces must remain safe, neutral, and firmly healthโ€‘promoting. MAPHM is calling for the introduction of random roadside testing for alcohol and drugs in Malta. The current suspicion-based system allows impaired drivers to go undetected, putting lives at risk. MAPHM urges immediate legislative reform to implement high-visibility, evidence-based testing to deter dangerous driving and protect all road users. ๐Ÿ”” Merry Christmas from all of us at MAPHM! ๐ŸŽ„ 1 day till Christmas! ๐ŸŽ„ 2 days till Christmas ๐ŸŽ„ 3 days until Christmas! ๐ŸŽ„ 4 days until Christmas! ๐ŸŽ„ 5 days until Christmas! ๐ŸŽ„
