All abstracts should be transmitted electronically through the abstract submission system.
The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 30th August 2019.
Abstracts received after this deadline will not be considered. You can submit your abstracts on the main Symposium Page

- Policy abstract
Instructions for abstract submission
All abstracts must be submitted in English.
- All abstracts should have a limit of 250 words.
- Do not add tables or graphs. Avoid acronyms and abbreviations.
- Use single line spacing.
- Besides the author, a maximum of 5 co-authors can be included.
Abstract format
All abstracts should be structured depending on the type of abstract
Research Abstract
Background
Address the scientific background and rationale of the study as well as the public health significance. Explain why study is important and what questions it will answer.
Methods
Describe the study design, the study participants, setting and measurement tool used
Results
Present the major qualitative or quantitative findings which relate to the conclusion.
Conclusions
State the conclusions directly supported by the data. Mention the public health actions that are recommended from the study and the magnitude of the public health impact. State the public health significance of this study.
Policy Abstract
Issue/Problem
Describe the issue/problem that is being addressed by the policy. Include the background and settings of the issue/problem and also the public health significance. Explain why the intervention is important.
Describe the problem
Describe clearly the objective, methods and time frame used.
Results
Present the results (effects/changes) from the policy
Lessons
Report the positive lessons of interest that relate to the policy. Report the public health actions that are recommended and should be implemented as a consequence of the policy.
Highlight the importance of the lesson learnt and how this will impact public health.
Evaluation procedure
All submitted abstracts will be peer-reviewed by the scientific committee. An anonymous system will be used for scoring.
Notification
Abstract authors will be notified by an acceptance letter by 30th September via email
Amendments can be made up till 20th October.
Instructions will be given to authors if accepted for oral or poster presentation.
